The Houston Coalition Against Red Light Cameras is engaged in a pledge drive to put an end to the photo enforcement of traffic lights in Sugar Land.
According to Michael W. Goodrum, City of Sugar Land Executive Director – Management Services, the Sugar Land Police Department has until January 3, 2014 to respond to the Traffic Safety Task Force recommendation regarding the red light camera enforcement program. If the SLPD does not recommend that the program be terminated or that it be placed on the ballot for a public vote we will commence legal action to overturn the city’s rejection of our petition of April 19. That petition called for a public vote on the issue. We are hereby accepting pledges to finance legal action to overturn the city’s unlawful act. Our initial goal is to raise pledges of at least $5,000 for the commencement of legal action should the city council fail to act on these demands.

We hope that the City will take note of this pledge drive and render it unnecessary.
